About Me

Meet Claire

Hi, Y'all! I'm so glad you've come across my little corner of the internet!

I am a 19-year-old Dallas native currently spending time in College Station while pursuing a degree in Political Science at Texas A&M University. I am an Aggie through and through as evidenced by my passion for Fightin' Texas Aggie football. I've only been at Texas A&M for a year, but I've already dived into serving through Class Councils as Vice President of my class, and my sorority Kappa Alpha Theta.

Although my parents aren't from the South, growing up in Dallas has turned me into a tried and true southerner. I proudly believe that y'all'll is a word, and that two-stepping is the best way to spend a Saturday night.

The joy of my life is found in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, followed by my family, friends, coffee, books, brunch, and "Say Yes To The Dress" marathons. Seriously though, I am fearlessly dancing in the joy of the Lord, and the decision to follow Christ was the best decision I ever made.

It's been my hope to start a blog since my 10th grade English class when my teacher challenged us to go a day without social media and blog about it. I loved the experience and getting my voice out, but I was hesitant to continue until I started writing for the Odyssey Online this year.

I hope you'll enjoy reading about my journey through college life and faith! (and whatever else I throw in)

Pineapple Poke Cake

Happy Memorial Weekend y'all! I love easy cake recipes. They take no time to accomplish, and they're an easy crowd pleaser. With triple-digit heat on the horizon in Dallas, I wanted to make something a little summery in time for the weekend and after playing around with a few ideas, a poke cake seemed to be the winner. I initially wanted to try this with peaches and cream, but I couldn't find peaches in my cabinet so pineapple won. With that being said, this recipe can be used with a variety of canned fruit so get creative, and don't forget to tell me what you tried! Pineapple Poke Cake 1 can of crushed pineapple 1 cup of coconut cream 1 box of white cake mix (yellow works too) 1 1/2 cup of brown sugar Instructions Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease the bottom of a 13x9 baking pan. Mix the cake mix per the instructions on the box. Pour the cake mix into the baking pan and spread 1/2 cup of brown sugar all over the top of the cake. Bake acco

A Little Intro

Hi, Y'all!  I'm so glad you've come across my little corner of the internet! I am a Dallas native currently spending time in College Station while pursuing a degree in Political Science at Texas A&M University. I am an Aggie through and through as evidenced by my love for Fightin' (for touchdowns at the very last minute because honestly my sanity means nothing to them) Texas Aggie football. This fall I will begin as a student at the Bush School of Government and Public Service to obtain my master's degree. It's been my hope to start a blog since my 10th grade English class when my teacher challenged us to go a day without social media and blog about it. Spill Sesh no. 1 - He is Making All Things Beautiful in His Time

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11 When I was younger, I would read this verse and relate it back to what I saw in the mirror – an imperfect, pimply, brace-faced 13-year-old who was trying to find some truth in her current season of life. I interpreted this as a promise that the current season would someday pass; I would one day grow out of my awkward teenage self, and become “beautiful.” In my selfishness, I interpreted this verse as being a hope for my outward perfection, rather than a promise of how God uses our hurt for His kingdom. Throughout my life, I have strived for perfection and focused so much energy on my inability to attain it. When I was little I truly believed my life was perfect, but that changed as soon as I found out I had OCD. My struggle with OCD over a four-year period resulted in many sleepless nights for
